I have a professor like that, but because we're a small group sometimes it happens that I'm the only one raising my hand so she nas no choice but to call on me. Also I purposefully look her in the eyes the whole time the whole time because she too avoids me. But maybe try to talk to your teacher and explain your situation. Just because it will take you a little longer to finish a sentence doesn't mean you can't do it.
