Professional athletes have media training to answer questions from journalists so it's not a reasonable standard to set for yourself. The main thing I find improves my stutter for me is working on not being tense by mediating daily which decreases the likely hood of blocks but if I feel like I'm going to block one strategy is to start breathing out without saying anything then start the word halfway through the breath. It might sound a little weird at first but you can learn to do it discretely and no one will notice or not notice enough to comment about it. Hopefully it helps you.
