Speech block at the start of sentences, mainly in social group situations? **I didn't really know where to but this, so sorry if it's the wrong subreddit** So I've had this problem for a couple of years now, but it seems to have got a bit worse recently. Basically, at the start of some sentences, I just cannot get the first word out. For example, I'm about to say a witty comment or order a drink at the bar and I'll be repeating the sentence over and over under my breath, but when it comes to say it, I just.....can't. It's becoming more and more frustrating. You're in a group and someone asks you a question and everyone is staring at you while you fight to get the words out, seconds feeling like hours. I originally thought it might have been linked to nervousness or anxiety, but looking back on all the times that I've been speech blocked the worst, I've been in a low-stress, comfortable situation. The most recent bad case of this was when a guy I used to go to school with around 7 years ago spotted my as I was leaving the pub and came over to chat. I'm not the best social chit-chat'er in the world, but I could easily has spoken to this guy for a while. But I just couldn't get my words out which and ended up leaving early which probably made it look like I couldn't be bothered talking to him. One thing I have noticed, is alcohol magnifies the frequency of these blocks massively, which is contrary to a lot of speech reports I've read on the internet. **Any ideas on something I could do to help this?** **Thanks!**
