My foray into stimulants and how it affected my stutter... Just to share some of my experience... I've [touched upon this about a year ago](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/1ye6sh/impact_positive_or_negative_from_different/cfk387l) and have since then learned some new things. All my findings are likely specific to myself and purely anecdotal, but I'm curious about experiences of others (though I understand mine is a fringe interest in an already tiny community, not to mention legal/social reasons not to touch this subject) or perhaps someone might search for it later... I've tried before, there's little to be found on the internet. --- Ever since my first experience when I found out it was possible, I've been testing various drugs to find out if and how they affect my stutter. It started with MDMA, so at first I thought it might have to do with dopamine/serotonin levels as that's how stimulants function. So I went through methamphetamine (actually the safest of the lot), MPA, 4-FA, 3-MMC and 3-FPH over the past two years or so. While exploring occasional stimulant use provided for some personal growth and an interesting experience*, none of those other substances had any major effect on fluency. I've since changed my theory of why does MDMA eliminate stuttering for me, i. e. the euphoria and specifically the absolutely relaxed feeling of comfort. Most of the things I tried just aren't that kind of stimulant and I've kept ROA to oral and insufflation, so there wasn't any euphoria. My guess is that IV, smoking or perhaps some other class of drugs like opiates would be more effective, but I've retained at least some fear and respect for the substances not to open that door. I imagine it's like when some people (me included) have better time being fluent while relaxed and just talking to friends. Exploiting this trend, it is more pronounced when you feel an equivalent of the happiest moment of your life. --- ^(* As a disclaimer: this is not me advocating drug abuse! After 27 years, I think I know myself well enough to take this risk. I firmly believe that drugs should only ever be used - never abused - after careful consideration, based on an informed opinion and, at least at first, in care of someone experienced. All for the purpose of harm prevention... because that's what you do to yourself. Anytime you use something, there is damage done to your brain/heart/nervous system. While seemingly negligible for one-time use, these effects add-up over time even with 'recreational' use.)
