I’ve asked outright for speech therapy from my insurance and gotten denied, so now I have to go through a long process to get anything diagnosed and certified. I do agree, many limitations we face stem from psychological reactions, being a learned behavior. I’ve also got an annoying lisp, but that’s just because I taught myself how to pronounce ‘S’ differently than most others. I’ve stuttered for as long as I remember, though it has admittedly become more prominent as the years go by. Some of that is definitely influenced by my own psychological issues.
