You can’t get rid of your stutter. Yeah, I know, it sucks, we all wish we /could/ speak fluently, but that’s why we’re all on r/stutter, isn’t it?? Your speech impediment needs to be something you can OWN instead of something you’re ashamed of and/or trying to hide. I learned to /own/ my stutter by introducing myself (“Hi, I’m J-J-Jer”) and making my audience aware of my stutter, so it’s there on the table instead of me trying to hide it (“I have a stutter, so if you need me to repeat anything, I’d be more than happy to.”). If you mention your speech impediment, it gives YOU the power. You aren’t trying to hide it... you OWN it! Laughing at it also helps, yo. You know how we stutter less if we sing? I’m a Starbucks barista, and I notice that I don’t stutter all THAT often, but when I start to explain which drinks have more sugar or caffeine, it definitely comes out. I noticed that my usual welcoming speech sounds sorta “song-like”, and that flow in my speech definitely helps get words out. Hope this helps!!
