Omg I know! And how can you explain if you’re blocking? People’s reactions can be entertaining in and of themselves. But, the assholes can be really hurtful. How can you plan for it? The desensitization goes both ways. I completely forget about stuttering and I don’t notice it because I hear it constantly. I do get thrown when I hear a different kind of stutter and I asked here how to respond. I was talking to someone who was blocking on their name. I felt like a jerk for asking his name because I knew most people block on their names and it was a struggle for him. I waited it out and he eventually showed me his name tag. It was an NSA event so the stress level wasn’t high, but I no longer ask people their names. It’s a daily struggle, no way around that.
