I overcame my stuttering 30 years ago, by ”accident”. I had graduated from college and had my first ”real” job which I hated and felt stuck because I stuttered. Decided to quit my job and focus all my time to overcoming it. Did everything, hypnosis, catharsis, lots reading about psychology. Stuttering is a problem we create ourselves without knowing it. We need to reprogram our minds to overcome it. It is not easy but it can be done. I wrote a book on Amazon to tell my story and to describe how I did it : No more stutter by Pierre Roberge. As to why speech therapists still mostly say to this day that it is not possible to overcome it? They try to treat the symptoms instead of treating the cause. The cause is psychological, scientists tend to look for physical defects in the nerves, the brain and the muscles. They find some irregularities but those symptoms are not the real cause. Keep the faith!
