Wow that sounds like a really challenging situation, definitely a lot of pressure to put on you as a child. I don't stutter myself, I'm a speech therapist and have friends and colleagues who stutter. With young kids now we often do parent coaching through topics like being open and talking about stuttering in a neutral way, parents adapting their communication skills and the child's environment to make space and time. You're right about telling kids that it's okay to stutter, it's so important. It can be hard for parents to see that when they're so anxious or against stuttering and want a "fix".
