My son (11) did benefit from some speech therapy. He learned about stuttering and some different strategies to help him get thru blocks. I think most of all it helped his confidence and that has helped his fluency. We did it weekly for about 6 months and he seemed to learn what he could from the therapist so we quit. It was really expensive but I think it did help. Good luck, I know how hard it is to want to help, but not know how to.
