100% My dad stutters and has a breakdown when I started talking because I stuttered on my first word. But now, he’s glad I got it. I don’t let it hold me back, I attack the world stutters and all. If I teach my kid that they can do that, imagine where they’ll go. They’ll be unstoppable. I grew up in a supportive environment, not taught about shaming my stutter…half the household stuttered so it was nothing new. But I didn’t grow up with stuttering affirmations, that’s something I had to do on my own. I had an amazing team of SLP, teachers, and parents to back me on my journey. But if I give my kid stuttering affirmations they’ll go further than where I am now.
