I hope they understood the small nuances and difficulties that come along with stutterering. How anxiety plays a part and worsens. Or how for example tiny nuances like a small stutter while telling a joke makes you look like a complete idiot in social settings. Also bigger things like difficulties in relationships and jobs. From my experience speech and language therapists are too focused on fixing the mechanical problem not too much dealing with the psychological effects of it. No one told me it was ok to stutter and that 95% of people don't care as much as you do. That helped my speech more then any speech therapist ever could. I became more confident and upfront with my stutter and that improved it by 70-80%. That imo should be a big big part of speech therapy.
