Hey man, I really recommend you don't jerk your head. It will turn into a bad secondary behavior that will be hard to get rid of. Also, it doesn't help. We think it helps because it's worked intermittently in the past so we continue to do it. Jerking your head doesn't have anything to do with getting out words. It's a distraction we've someone picked up and since it worked occasionally we kept it, to our own hindrance I may add. Where do you live? I recommend you find a qualified SLP to work with. My speech can be quite severe at times as well, but i've at least learned to stutter severely without adding in a bunch of secondary behaviors that just make everything worse and more stressful. I would research SLPs you can go to and find ones that don't focus on fluency. I feel like the more you focus on fluency, the more struggle you're going to have. I would recommend before you're about to speak, tell yourself that it's ok to stutter. You already know you're probably going to stutter, a lot, so let it happen and don't try so hard to not stutter. The harder you try to keep yourself from stutter (which is a bit ridiculous since we are people who stutter and stuttering is something we do), the more struggle there will be. I'd recommend just try getting to the forward sound and there's no rush. We put time pressure on ourselves and often times its too hard to resist, but that doesn't mean we cant take baby steps.
