Maybe you could email the therapist or the clinic to make your first appointment? I'm a second year SLP grad student and over the summer I worked with a gentlemen (23 year old male) who stutters and we started out all of our communication by email until he felt comfortable pursuing treatment with me and my supervisor. By the time he discharged (he was moving out of state for a job) he felt comfortable communicating (and stuttering) with me (he told me this I'm not just guessing). From my personal side of things, he was a really cool person to get to work with. He taught me a lot by sharing his experience of stuttering and I hope it made me a better SLP for future clients.
