My therapists as a kid weren’t good. They liked to tell me things I wouldn’t be able to do, which I will never understand. They also told my parents never to talk about it which made me feel worse about myself. I went to someone as an adult who was amazing. He helped me realize that a lot of it is mental and to stop hating on myself. That really helped me more than I can say. I regret not telling him before he passed away. Really, I think there are good ones and bad ones, more bad from my experience but that is just my experience. I’ve talked to a lot of people with stutters esp parents with kids who stutter. I think it’s REALLY hard to learn the “right” things to do from a textbook since all of us are so different.
