It happened to me as well but I was removed to a new country with new language and environment that I was forced to adapt to. Admittedly, it wasn't easy at all especially with a new language and having to relay on the very few people who understand English (with or without stuttering). But it wasn't really bad and everyone was decent and happy to help. I think campus environment itself always welcomes new people by it's nature so I wouldn't worry about it. So don't worry, be calm, relax your shoulders and smile! College days could be really fun.
