I have a lifelong stutter but it seems my experience is really different than your son's experience. All I'll say that just knowing other people who stutter goes a long way to improving your perception of yourself. I'm 35 and just really started attending support groups in the last year. It has changed my life. I think back on all the crappy kids I experienced growing up who didn't get what a stutter was and how stupid it was to deal with that alone. I suspect I would have been able to avoid a lot of baggage that's followed me into adulthood if I'd had a group of kids to talk to when I was seven. Good luck!
