Acceptance is definitely one but also believing that stuttering isn't the entire personality as the person might believe. For instance - i have been stuttering for over 12 years now and there have been years when I was so under confident and timid that I couldn't hold a proper conversation and on the contrary, there have been phases where it was pretty manageable. Living with a stutter comes with managing and rehearsing confidence as well as acceptance. One without the other is a tough lane to walk on.
