Thanks for taking the time to contribute and write such a nice post. What you're talking about sounds pretty similar to fluency shaping, where you retrain the way you speak to speak more "correctly". This approach is definitely useful for some people and I know several who it has helped. I do advocate for people to try it but just want to say for a lot of people it's just not possible to calm down and relax in the moment or even to slow down. Even slowing down was sometimes impossible and there can be a lot of resistance to it. So while I recommend for people to explore all their options, I wanted to say this isn't a set solution for all stutterers and someone tries and it doesn't work for them to take it as a failure on their part.
