Oof. This really resonated with me... I had an identical experience in school and still do at work. I'll be anxious for days before any situation where I have to meet new people, and the anxiety is always about introducing myself. I have a super hard time saying my name. I've not found many thing that help with fluency in these situations. I can tell you however, that even though I dread saying my name to people, I made it through school + a 5 year grad program just fine and have a good job. It's incredibly embarrassing for a few minutes, but then everyone moves on. And those dumb kids who are snickering at you will be flipping burgers in a few years. If anything stuttering can work as a barometer... useful for picking out the assholes from people that are genuinely worth your time and attention.
