My names Jackie. I'm 20 years old and currently in college. I've had a severe stutter ever since I can remember. I think I knew about it so young because my twin sister speaks fluently so I was always compared to her. I had many speech therapists. Some that helped a lot and some not so much. But once I stepped out of their office I started stuttering as much as when I went in. In high school I learned about the speech easy and my parents took me to a specialist. I tried it on for the first time and I was around 90% fluent which was amazing. I had never been that fluent in my life. My parents bought me the speech easy and I went back for weekly therapy sessions. At first I never took it off and was fluent 95% of the time but after awhile once the sessions went from weekly to monthly my fluency decreased drastically and I started to lose hope in the device. My parents started having money issues so they could no longer afford the therapy sessions so I'm back at square one. I now just accept my stutter and tell myself that I will have to deal with this for the rest of my life and I should just give up on caring. So far that's worked for me, I currently have a job at a veterinary clinic as a vet assistant. I deal with people all day and answering phones. It can be hard sometimes but I take it day by day. I have a boyfriend of 3 years that was always very patient with me from the beginning and a couple of close friends and that's really all I need. Sorry for the wall of text!
