Psilocybin and Choral Reading for Fluency? I’m sure plenty of you guys have heard about Paul Stamets. He claimed to have had his stutter cured after an intense mushroom trip. I’m not sure how severe his stutter was or whether or not what he says is true but it is true that Psilocybin strengthens and creates new neural pathways. https://news.yale.edu/2021/07/05/psychedelic-spurs-growth-neural-connections-lost-depression My hypothesis is that a decent psilocybin dose combined with 2-3 hours of choral reading during the trip could strengthen/repair or even create new speech related pathways along with having some positive emotional effects due to experiencing extended fluency even if it’s just brought on by choral reading? Are there any SLPs or Neurologists in here that could comment on this? I’m not a doctor, just a severe stutterer who doesn’t want to be this way forever. Please take my word with a grain of salt as I may be misunderstanding these complex subjects. Also, please don’t take psilocybin just based on this as it’s a very powerful substance that should be respected.
