Wonderful post! :) I would like to add that accepting stuttering is not possible in the usual sense of the word. The fact is that every stutterer curses stuttering and dreams of getting rid of it, so acceptance is out of the question. Also, we all feel that we fall out of society, because we cannot communicate on equal terms, in addition to this often come such problems as low self-esteem, psychosis, etc. By nature, a person tries to blend in with society, with people like himself, so he will always try to hide his stuttering, which is doomed to failure, for this reason, the fight against stuttering is such a paradox. You can run away from it as much as you want, try to accept it and give up trying to get rid of stuttering, but, as we know, a person has enough strengh to bang his head against this wall again and again. I think the effective advice is to be in the stuttering community to realize that you are not unique, and to practice with people as much as possible. Unfortunately, there are very few patient people willing to listen to this lousy parody of speech, and we tend to run away to our comfort zone when we fuck up once again, so it's almost unrealizable. Happy upcoming New Year to you!
