There are completely different approaches to treating children and adults who stutter and I would really recommend giving it another try. I often find that my adult patients are a lot more motivated than the children and really practice hard, which is key to making progress. There is not quick fix and I am sure you know that there is no cure but with therapy you can 1. lose the negative feelings and self-beliefs associated with stuttering 2. learn a technique that helps you gain control over your speech in situations that matter to you. Some people who stutter choose not to do anything about their speech and stutter confidently, that's great, too. But if you are bothered by it then it is no good saying you should just live with it. There are very effective techniques out there!
