Yeah, I know something similar was said on the other post. I find that comment, whether it's about stuttering or almost anything else, spectacularly anti-helpful. Call me crazy, but I believe that if you could have decided "not to let it be a disability," you would have long ago. I am not as sure of your future as you are. I know of stutterers your age who have found ways for things to get better. However: That is not relevant right now. This is what you've decided to do now. It's your decision, and it happens to be perfectly reasonable. Additionally, you never asked what people thought about what you've decided to do. You asked if anyone had experience with getting on Disability. And here you are just describing your experience. If your decision was to drown kittens, rather than apply for SSI, then it'd be reasonable for people to say "don't do that. It's wrong, immoral and illegal." "It's only kittenicide if you let it be! Please decide not to kill kittens." But this? No.
