There is also the strategy of voluntary stuttering. The point of this is twofold. It can desensitize the speaker by slipping in small stutters that are noticeable but not big to get used to stuttering in normal conversation. It is supposed to show that, to some degree, stuttering in normal conversation is fine and we worry about it more than we should. It can also allow the stutterer to practice stuttering easily, which can help with actual stuttering. When you feel a stutter coming on do a little pre-voluntary stutter and hopefully it will make it easier.
