Hey. I've stuttered for more than 20 years. But I don't stutter while reading, but I used to. I can tell you what helped me. 1. Initially, you should aim for a steady rhythm at a low speaking rate. I started out with reading out loud at maybe 2 or 3 syllables every two seconds. 2. Pause briefly after maybe every 4 words or so. With the pause being about the length of one syllable. In that pause, breathe slowly, but not a whole breath. Whatever amount of air you breathe in that time is good... As long as you breathe slowly. 3. I ran into problems when I had to start reading the next word after the pause. Now that I've mentioned it and you might think about it, you might have trouble too! Try to stay calm at that time and tell yourself that it's gonna be fine. 4. Treat each syllable the same way. Whether that's the first syllable or the last in the words you speak between pauses, your mental approach and physical effort should be equal and controlled by you. Make sure you tell your self that. *égalité*! 5. Speak loudly. 6. Maybe record yourself and analyse if your rate, effort etc are going as planned. 7. Ignore failures, cherish tiny victories. 8. Don't be in a hurry to sound like a "normal person" while reading. It'll come eventually. You'll be surprised at how bad some people are at reading even without a stutter. 9. If you feel good about it, maybe after a few days/weeks/months, read in front of a friend or two. Basically put yourself in a slightly scary situation. 10. rinse and repeat. This was what worked for me. You'll have to see what works for you! Good luck!
