Did you invent a whole life story to go with your accent? How would that work out if anyone would come to your house or meet your parents? Or...maybe you didn't do that. Maybe you just said "yeah, it's weird, I watched a lot of British television and just picked it up. Now I can't put it down." That'd be easier than a whole fake background, I'd think.
