I read your post and I wanted to reach out because so much of what you said resonated with me. I’ve lived with a stutter for two decades now. On a scale of 1 to 10, I usually hover between a 2 and a 5 depending on the day and the person I’m talking to. I know exactly how frustrating that "variable" nature is, where one day a certain word is fine, and the next, it’s a brick wall. I also know that feeling of being a "chatterbox" as a kid, only to have adulthood and stress turn your own speech into a barrier. It’s exhausting, but I want you to know that there is a path forward. Over the past few weeks, I’ve started practicing by reading and speaking with an acquaintance I met here on Reddit. Honestly, it has helped me massively. I’m already seeing improvements in small, everyday conversations. While I still stutter during longer discussions, I can feel the progress and I’m confident it’s going to keep getting better. Practicing in a "low-stakes" environment with someone who truly understands makes a world of difference. It takes the pressure off and lets you find your rhythm again. If you’re up for it, I’d love for you to join us during our calls sometime just to have a chat. No pressure, no judgment, just a few people who get it, hanging out and working through it together.
