Since Stuttering is so individualized and more extensive research is needed, seeking treatment is like buying shoes, one size does not fit all. While some treatments work for some but not for others, keep searching for one that works specifically for you. My stutter began as a result from a dog attack at age 5 when the dog jumped on me and knocked me down and my head hit the concrete sidewalk. I could not speak for one year after however when I did speak, I had 0% fluency. I've had 20 years of speech therapy but the most effective treatment for me was hypnosis and I've added mindful meditation. I'm 52 now, a National Trainer for a major medical center and I still stutter. I'm at 80% fluency and really I don't care if I stutter. My stutter controlled my life for 35 years dictating every facet of my life. When I turned 40, I stopped fighting it and embraced it. I no longer care what people thought of my stutter and that was freedom for me. I don't give a 💩 if people mock me, that shows their ignorance, their demons, their issues. If I need to, I educate and raise awareness.
