Amazing how our perception of self is so impacted and often skewed by our stutter. People act as mirrors - for everyone. Not just a stutter thing. I wonder how many people or family you mentioned are really thinking “this kid still stutters?” Or is it you thinking/feeling “I can’t believe I still stutter.” It’s helpful to know what’s really at play here. 5. How many of your people/ family are also navigating their own shit? They don’t stutter, so it’s below the surface. We can’t hide it. 6. Appreciate you owning it. I refer to it as the fork of being true to our self or avoiding shame. 7. Let everyone know - showing up is flexing your courage muscle - and f everyone who can’t honor and respect that.
