The main sub is actively harmful with its toxic positivity. Going to r/stutter and opening a post about how someone faces clear discrimination, rejection and even depression because of the their stuttering makes my blood boil. The top reply is usually about how we just need to change our mindset, how it's always in our heads and any other variation of those cliches. And I'm not exaggerating. When you say those things towards people who have a disability that has a very high suicide rate... this is just bad. I'm sorry but I can't understand why they would downplay it like this, we all stutter so why do they think that the way people and the world respond to us is just our imagination? That it's not true? And when you call this behavior out they're the ones getting mad at you. As if we need more fake positivity in this world. Sincerely fuck them.
