Hands down, depends on your situation. A symptom of social anxiety is stuttering, but the hardest part of having a stutter is we might never know the exact cause, everyone’s different and research is continually ongoing. I’m not a doctor or a speech pathologist, but from personal experience I wouldn’t go with the notion that meds will magically fix your stutter, let alone social anxiety. In most cases it needs to be in a combination of therapy so you can bring up your concerns/issues in a safe space, recognize them, and actualize a solution in a positive manner. Finding the right therapy really will change your life. Also if you drink alcohol, DO NOT mix them with meds, especially ssris like lexapro/zoloft and controlled substances like xanax/benzos and your doctor will let you know this. In conclusion, there’s no magic cure for stuttering. Best we can do is either accept who we are, work on bettering it, or both. I hope you find the help you want and feel better soon, rooting for you!
