If professionals claim to cure your stutter - I would highly advise to not see them again. It is well known amongst speech language therapists there is no ‘cure’ to stuttering, as in a binary “I have one” and “I don’t have one.” They can increase your fluency and some of the negative behaviours/thoughts brought on by stammering, but no clear ‘miracle cure.’ I think the people who are saying you should grow out of it etc., stems from a lack of understanding of having a stutter. Informing them is a good way to help change their outlook and to be more supportive.
