I recorded myself when I started because I wanted to hear myself read out loud without stuttering. However, after I started doing it every single day hearing yourself meant less and less. One thing I noticed is even when I was reading out loud I was reading fast. I read a book where one guy basically stopped stuttering by emphasizing the last sound in each word. After that, I started to slightly pause after each word and got amazing results. It takes tons of practice, though because your mind is not trained to talk that way. The true test for me has always been the phone, and it's getting easier and easier the more I get on it and talk.
