Has anyone taken speech therapy in college?

Has anyone taken speech therapy in college? I'm a college freshman and my stutter has been the worst for a few months now. My mom really wants me to look into speech therapy again, but I'm really nervous to start. My college offers the services for free, but with people that are working towards their master of science degree (in the speech, language, and hearing sciences) and will be supervised by a licensed pathologist. I know everyone has different experiences, but can anyone tell me what to expect? Has it been effective? Are they empathetic? I literally get so sensitive about the topic and WILL cry, but I don't wanna embarrass myself lol
