I'm afraid this is the case for most stutterers. Even the most severe stutterer is able to talk aloud to himself in an empty room or read in unison without stuttering. I wouldn't take it as a sign that you can get over it. Stuttering is a communication disorder and in those situations you aren't communicating with anyone.
